Privacy Policy for Participation in Social Media Competitions

When you participate in competitions hosted by Carlsberg Camping on our social media platforms (e.g., Facebook and Instagram), we process certain personal data about you. Below, you can read about how we safely and legally handle your data.

1. The Data Controller

Carlsberg Camping is the data controller for the processing of the personal data we collect about you in connection with competitions.

2. Purpose of the Processing

We process your personal data in order to:

  • Administer and conduct the specific competition.
  • Verify your identity and ensure you meet the participation requirements (e.g., being over 18 years of age).
  • Draw a winner.
  • Contact the winner and deliver the prize.

3. What Personal Data Do We Process?

When you participate, we typically process the information you provide yourself, as well as information that is publicly available via your profile:

  • Upon participation: Your name/username, your profile picture, and the content of your comment (e.g., a guess, text, or a picture).
  • If you win: In order to hand over the prize, we will ask the winner for further contact details: full name, e-mail, phone number, and address. This takes place via direct message, or as a reply in the comment section where we ask you to contact us.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

Our processing of your data is based on the following legal grounds (GDPR):

  • Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)): To administer the competition and draw a winner.
  • Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)): When issuing or sending the prize to the winner.
  • Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)): Information about the winner is retained in accordance with the Danish Bookkeeping Act if the prize has a financial value.

5. Use of Third-Party Tools and Disclosure

To administer competitions fairly, we occasionally use locally hosted third-party tools (e.g., random draw systems like Spin the Wheel or similar comment pickers).

  • When using these tools, only usernames and comments are processed to conduct the draw. The information is not stored by the third party afterward.
  • We never sell your data. We only share your information with a third party (e.g., a shipping company) if it is strictly necessary to deliver your prize.

6. Retention and Deletion

  • Participants (non-winners): Your public comments remain on our post as long as the post is active on the platform, unless you delete it yourself. We do not store your data in our own systems.
  • Winners: Information relating to the delivery of prizes (name, contact details, and the value of the gift card) is stored for up to 5 years from the end of the financial year in which the prize was delivered, to comply with the applicable Danish Bookkeeping Act. After this, it is deleted.

7. Meta Disclaimer

Our social media competitions are in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Meta (Facebook/Instagram).

8. Your Rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have a number of rights regarding our processing of your information:

  • Right of access: You have the right to know what information we hold about you.
  • Right to erasure/rectification: You can request to have your information corrected or deleted (note that deleting your comment before the draw will result in the cancellation of your participation).
  • Right to complain: You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Danish Data Protection Agency (www.datatilsynet.dk) if you are dissatisfied with the way we process your personal data.
